Italy ➜ Lago di Garda

Anyone who has seen the orangeries on Lake Garda can consider themselves lucky. They are among the most graceful buildings in the art of horticulture. They are so characteristic of the area that they have their own name: Limonaie. The largest Italian lake is characterised by spectacular vegetation: planted trees such as Mediterranean cypresses, oleanders, cedars, olive trees and palms spoil the view. Agaves, opuntias and caper shrubs sprout on the sun-drenched slopes. The fact that the northern part of the lake is closed to motorboats intensifies the impression of a scenic idyll.

Around the lake on the edge of the Alps there is pure landscape drama: the northern shore of the lake is dominated by the majestic backdrop of the Garda massif; the southern shore is already in the northern Italian lowlands.
