Located at the foot of the Bergamo Alps, this hidden pearl of the north is the least frequented of the upper Italian lakes. Its basin was carved out by glaciers. A partly adventurous rocky road circles it. The Franciacorta wine-growing region stretches from the southern end towards Brescia.
Trivia: In 2016, the artist Christo opened his work The Floating Piers in the middle of the lake. The installation made it possible to reach the island of Monte Isola and the Isola di San Paolo on foot via floating piers.
